Replacement Windows in Maryland
Current incentive status, energy-code requirements, and local market research for Maryland homeowners replacing windows and doors.
Rebates & incentives
The federal window tax credit (25C) ended for projects placed in service after December 31, 2025. If your windows were installed in 2025, you can still claim it on your 2025 return — but for new projects there is no federal window credit. State and utility programs are now the main source of window incentives.
Maryland runs IRA Home Energy Rebate programs through the Maryland Energy Administration; windows can be included in a modeled whole-home efficiency retrofit. Verify current program status before counting on funds.
- EmPOWER Maryland (BGE and other utilities). EmPOWER Maryland utility programs (including BGE in the Baltimore area) fund home energy audits and envelope improvements; window replacement generally qualifies as part of whole-home efficiency work. (Maryland PSC EmPOWER Maryland; BGE program pages)
Energy code
Maryland adopts the statewide Maryland Building Performance Standards (IECC-based); in Baltimore, historic districts are reviewed by CHAP (the Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation).
