How We Research

The Window Monitor exists because window shopping is one of the most information-hostile purchases in home improvement: opaque pricing, commission-driven sales models, and marketing claims that are difficult to verify. Our job is to put the verifiable facts in one place.

Our method

Every local page is built from public, citable data: U.S. Census Bureau housing-stock statistics, EPA ENERGY STAR efficiency criteria, DOE/PNNL climate-zone assignments, state and federal incentive records, and NOAA hazard data. Cost figures are framed as planning ranges tied to public cost databases, not invented "average prices" reverse-engineered to make you click. When something varies by market or changes over time (rebate programs especially), we say so and date the page.

What we are not

We are not a contractor, a manufacturer, or a review site that takes payment for scores. We are a research publication with a business model, described plainly in our advertising disclosure, connecting readers who want quotes with vetted partners.

Corrections

If we've published something inaccurate, we want to know. Corrections are made in place and noted.
